Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Official Opening
This week marked the official opening ceremony of our new extension, which has doubled the size of the school. Representatives from the County and Borough Councils attended, along with the Construction company and Architects who made the vision a reality.
New Build
The project has provided 3,308 square metres of accommodation including 20 new classrooms, a Drama studio, Lecture Theatre, Media Studies and Music department, Sixth Form space and offices.
Special Guests
Construction work was managed by Wates Construction, in conjunction with teams of professionals from GSS Architecture, Pick Everard and Scape Procure.
Stars of the Week:
Students:
- Miss Watt has nominated Nikodem 7CA, Gabi 7TA and Owen in 7CA respectively always trying to improve and push themselves further in their German work.
- Mr Cox has nominated Abbie, Abigail, Debony and Kelechi 9C for their excellent chair duets in Drama.
- Mr Lee has nominated Tyrell 11C for great improvement in Maths.
- Mr Chatfield has nominated the Year 7 Basketball team for outstanding teamwork in the SSP tournament. He has also nominated Year 10 Sports Leaders for their support with the event which was held here at CTS.
- Mrs Walpole and Mrs Wiley have nominated Bethany 7TE for her positive attitude to learning.
- Miss Keogh has nominated Taylor and Jamie 11T for their support at the beginning of the school day.
- The English department nominate all Year 11 students for their dedicated and aspirational response to their exam feedback. They engaged well with the gaps they have in their knowledge and skill during the session.
- Miss Fenner has nominated nominate Emmanuel, Anjali and Zehra 9T and Mason and Abbie 9C for their support during assembly today.
- Miss Longhurst has nominated James 11S for his hard work in History, Charlie 11T for his hard work in Geography and Kyle 10S for exceptional work in Geography.
Celebration of Student Work:
Year 7 STEM
Students carried out research into the history of castle’s and looked at the features, strengths and weaknesses of a range of different castles. Students then used this research to design their own castles.
Competition Winner
Ethan 12A took this amazing shot during a recent CCF trip to Helvellyn for the Combined Cadet Force photography competition. Ethan was named overall winner.
National Citizenship Service
Last year, a group of our Year 11 students took part in this amazing experience and we have been awarded the Bronze Award for outstanding engagement. We will be working with NCS again this year and further information will sent to current Year 11 students following the Christmas break.
Reminders:
- Christmas Showcase will take place on Tuesday 19th December in the George Weston Theatre, tickets are available at reception and can be "purchased" with a donation to Corby Food Bank.
- Christmas Lunch will take place on Wednesday 20th December, please ensure your child has adequate funds on their Wisepay account.
- School will close for the Christmas break on Thursday 21st December 2017 and we will reopen to students on Tuesday 9th January 2018.
